A Word From
Kristina hammond, oak View's
Speech-Language Pathologist
The Speech and Language Program at Oak View Elementary School provides
services for eligible students in the areas
of
articulation, language, fluency (stuttering) and voice. To receive services a
student must meet eligibility standards set forth by the Tennessee State
Department of Education. In addition, the Individualized Education Team (IEP-Team)
must determine that the speech and language impairment adversely affects a
student's educational performance. Services may include direct therapy,
inclusion in the student's classroom, or consultation with the student's
teacher. The services delivered may depend on the type and severity of the
impairment. The Speech-Language Pathologist at Oak View collaborates with other
school personnel to ensure a program that will integrate curricular areas with
the student's communication goals and objectives.
