Referral Process
 

The social workers assist students and their families who have been referred by school psychologists, guidance counselors, resource teachers and principals.  The school social worker will work with the family to address physical illness, mental illness, subsistence needs or behaviors in the classroom by helping them to locate resources in the community.

 
The best way to introduce a social worker into the team is to invite them to the first GEIT meeting.  If a school is unsure whether or not they have an appropriate referral, please feel free to contact the social worker who serves your school to help you make that decision.
