Balanced Food and Drink View

  • generally speaking there are no bad foods although foods can affect individuals differently
  • view food in terms of energy and satisfying – too much emphasis on the satisfying/enjoyable can lead to problems
  • stay away from the “party in the mouth syndrome” – food choices dictated too much by taste
  • good nutrition is an acquired taste, introduce changes in small amounts
  • make water and milk beverages of choice (both low fat milk and flavored milk are good choices and good alternatives to those drinks high in sugar)
