Vermont Healthy Schools Resource:  Nutrition

The above links are provided simply as a resource.   Before implementing, WCS staff would need to follow any necessary permission procedures that may be in place at each individual school. Always be mindful of a child’s particular medical history and the specifics of the condition.  These include, but are not limited to, areas such as asthma, diabetes and food allergies.

For example, in the areas of food allergies, granola bars and trail mix are not for those with nut allergies even if there are no peanuts in the ingredients.  Reasons include food processing and the issue of cross contamination.  It is also important to know food ingredients and check labels since ingredients, even in the same foods on the same shelf in the same store, can be different.

This is one of many reasons why it is important to find healthy alternatives and this page is designed to help everyone think along these lines.
