Healthy Highlights at Williamson County Schools

Hillsboro Elementary\Middle

Announcements – A health tip has been included with the daily announcements and in the parent newsletter.

Cafeteria – Based on the possible food choices on that particular day, the cafeteria advertises the optimum healthy meal of the day.

Germ Drill – At different times, a school-wide germ drill is announced over the PA system.  Students and teachers respond by using sanitary wipes to wipe down doorknobs, counter tops and any areas where germs can easily collect.

Health Education – Better Me and My Pyramid educational programs from the Williamson County health department are being used and taught by the department’s health educator, Tina Kinder.

Walking Club – Students, teachers and parents walk for 30 minutes before school three days a week.  Currently there are 50-70 students participating in the walking club along with 8-10 parents and 8-10 staff participating on any given day!  Students have set goals and are working on reaching those goals.
