Healthy Highlights at Williamson County Schools

Walnut Grove Elementary

Jump Rope Club – 3rd – 5th grade students participate in a Jump Rope Club every Monday from 7:45AM – 8:25Am.  This is an opportunity for students to learn new jump rope skills and experience the benefits of exercise through jump roping.

Marathon – WGES will continue its participation in the Country Music Kids Marathon.  In last year’s 2nd year of participation, there were 36 students who ran at Titans stadium.  At school, several weeks prior to the big race day, students are training and developing their cardiovascular system.

Track Club – Runs for approximately nine weeks in the fall and nine weeks in the spring.  Students can walk or run before school from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.   Parents and staff are invited to join.  There are approximately 275 students participating.

Walking Program – Students and many staff members participate in the Walking Works for Schools program by walking or jogging the school course for at least five minutes or more per day.  This is the second year of membership in this program.
