During the months of February and March,
eighteen Williamson County Schools
participated in an activity contest
associated with Walk Across Williamson.
The contest was sponsored by the office
of Coordinated School Health.
Schools were given the opportunity to
develop activity groups with a minimum
of 12 members, but no maximum number.
The idea was to make each group as large
as possible. The goal was to
complete 6,000 minutes of activity over
the two months. Each school far
exceeded this goal and in fact logged a
total of 1,826,841
minutes of activity (almost 3 times more
than last year totals) or an average of
114,178
minutes per school.
These schools also competed for mini CSH
grants. Top awards were determined
based on total number of activity
minutes submitted for the top ten
finishers. Those who met at least
the minimum requirements were rewarded
with $100.00 participation awards.
These grants will be used to support the
Coordinated School Health initiative
within each respective school. Our
congratulations to all, as we
experienced tremendous growth in the
second year of this contest.
