Williamson County Schools

Behavior is just another form of communication.

All children wear the sign: “I want to be important NOW.’  Many of our juvenile delinquency problems         arise because nobody        reads the sign.

Behavior Intervention Specialists

All behavior serves a purpose or a function for the person who displays it.  Sometimes that function is easily identified, but often it is more challenging.  When a student’s behavior becomes challenging, your site-based team should meet to review data, or in some cases determine what data you need to collect and then create an individualized behavior intervention plan.

The behavior plan will be most effective if you consider what the student is currently gaining from the challenging behavior and seek to establish a more acceptable replacement behavior to support.  Providing positive reinforcement for the behavior you desire will create more lasting and satisfying results for both the student and the adults working with him or her.

This website provides your site-based team with many resources that we hope you will find helpful and beneficial, including how and when to contact your school’s behavior intervention specialist.
