SCHOLARS PROGRAM

 The Page Scholars Program addresses and fulfills the academic aspiration of those students who desire a vigorous yet individually rewarding course of studies.  The student is committed, with parental support, to scholastic and personal excellence.  The camaraderie that the Scholars Program forges among its students is one of its most endearing features.  The hallmarks of the Page scholar include the following:

·        Being a caring, positive and ethical person

·        Leading through moral example

·        Having a vision and purpose

·        Exemplifying enthusiasm about learning

·        Achieving academic distinction

Scholars Statement of Commitment
The student who is admitted to the Scholars Program is pledged to the following obligations:

1.      Maintain a GPA of 3.75

2.      Agree to a schedule of honors and AP courses

3.      Meet deadlines for test applications (ACT, PSAT, SAT, PLAN, AP)

4.      Take History of Ideas I and II

5.      Compete in available academic competitions, bowls, contests, invitations, decathlons (for example, the Math contest, the Academic Team, the National Spanish exam)

6.      Obtain membership in available honor and academic societies

7.      Create a portfolio of scholarly and creative work, accomplishments and achievements (fulfills the Senior Project requirements).

8.      Attend summer enrichment programs, seminars, institutes

9.      Initiate and complete a research paper of 5,000 words (fulfills the Senior Project requirement).

10.  Become well versed in computer technology.

11.  Volunteer in community service.

Application Procedure
The student who desires to enter the Scholars Program must take the following steps:

·        Elucidate his/her educational philosophy, by commenting on the traits of a Page Scholar (i.e. listing personal and academic goals, reflecting on the definition of a scholar, that is, one who seeks knowledge, wisdom and truth; how to adopt a clear focus for academic achievement).   One typed page is the minimum requirement for this step.

·        Receive recommendations from three current teachers.

·        Schedule an interview with the Program Directors.
