Fred J. Page Middle School
Outstanding students are asked to join with others of
similar goals to develop themselves and benefit their
community. Our organization is affiliated with the national
organization and abides by the national rules and
regulations.
Purpose:
"The purpose of this organization shall be to create
enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render
service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to
encourage good citizenship in the students of
Fred
J. Page
Middle School."
·
Leaders’ Meetings—held every
Wednesday afternoon (starting Sept. 16th) in Mr.
Walling’s room (D-4) from 2:45-3:30 p.m.
·
General Assembly
Meetings—held every Thursday morning (starting Sept. 17th)
in the gym from 7:10-7:25 a.m.
Process of Selection:
1-Grades: A list is compiled of students
who have had 87%
or above in every class on each report card in middle
school.
2-Student Rating: Teachers
are asked to rate students on leadership, citizenship,
character, and service. Those who achieve outstanding rank
move to the next step. Teacher rankings are considered
confidential and will not be made public.
3-Self-Reporting:
The Faculty Advisory Council meets and reviews each
student's rating results. Students who are ranked
outstanding are invited to fill out a self-reporting
information packet listing explaining their co-curricular
activities, leadership positions held, service activities,
community activities, work experience, recognitions, and
awards. Students who are outstanding in this phase are
invited to join the National Junior Honor Society and are
inducted at an assembly. This form must be filled out
carefully by the student.
Appeal: Students not accepted for
membership will have three weeks after the announcement to
new inductees to ask for a review to determine if they are
eligible for membership according to the bylaws. If there
are questions or concerns, please contact
