Emory Scholars Program

 

 

·       Emory’s most prestigious, merit-based scholarship

·       Essay & recommendations required

·       Finalists will be interviewed on Emory’s campus

·       RHS can nominate up to four students

·       Nominees must have completed application process for Emory by Nov 1

·       Superior academic credentials

·       Demonstrated interest & participation in business

Horatio Alger Scholarship

 

 

·       Gross family income less than  $50,000

·       Extracurricular involvement

·       Must have overcome adversity

·       GPA: 2.0+

·       Awards of $2,500 - $20,000

Will to Win Scholarship

·         For seniors with asthma

·         Five areas: performing arts, visual arts, community service, athletics, & science

·         GPA: 3.5+

·         Must have received at least one award related to entry category

·       Character, personal merit, and commitment

·       Demonstrated leadership in school & community

·       50 awards of $20,000 & 200 awards of $10,000

·       For student writers planning to attend UNC Chapel Hill

·       GPA:  2.8+

·       Demonstrate leadership abilities in school activities or through work experience

·       Employees of Comcast and their families are not eligible.

·       RHS can nominate only one student.

·       Awards of $1,000

First Freedom Essay Contest

 

·       For students in grades 9-12

·       Winner receives $750-$3,000 and a trip to Newport, Rhode Island in August 2009

·       Several different scholarships are available, each with their own criteria. 

·       All have high GPA and ACT/SAT requirements

·       Must demonstrate ambition & drive, determination to set & reach goals, respect for self/family/community, ability to succeed in college

·       One $10,000 award per state

Young Entrepreneur Foundation Scholarship

 

·       Demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit through participation in organizations like DECA, Jr. Achievement, FLBA, etc.; through starting your own business; through other initiatives
