Freshman Academy

The goal of the Freshman Academy at Ravenwood High School is to ensure that our freshmen students achieve at a high level in every academic class.

The three main objectives of the Freshman Academy are:
1. Organization Skills: Through the use of a planner
2. Teacher Websites: Teachers will emphasize the use of their websites and students will be encourage to utilize them for information missed and as a general course resource
3. Notebook/Binder: Freshmen will use one notebook/binder for all subjects.

Level 3

Students Failing at Quarter Grading Period

Assigned 8th Period Skill Building for 1 hour a day for 1 week. At the end of the week, the student is given an assessment covering only concepts not mastered during that quarter.

If the student passes the assessment, they will receive a 70 for that quarter.

**This intervention only pertains to students who received 55 -69 in the course for the quarter.

 

Level 2

Students Failing at 4 ½ Week Progress Report

Students will be assigned to a study hall with the teacher of the class that they are failing.

 

Level 1

Students Missing an Assignment.

Teachers assign that student (8th period) Skill Building. The student will be required to do academic skill building with the 8th period teacher.

Students that are assigned 8th period that do not report will be assigned ISS the following day during their study hall. Assignments will be completed during this time.
