Mrs. Beth Hallmark
Mrs. Alison Brown They work with children at Scales who have learning differences. They offer the students a wide range of educational opportunities along side the students' non-disabled peers while maintaining the necessary learning environments to fit each child's individual educational needs. They are assisted by Lannis Manning, Julie Jones, Becky Parker-Jewell, Ann Lea, and Robbie McCluskey. |
Mrs. Linda McDermott As a teacher for the Blind/Visually Impaired, it is my job to make sure the students with visual impairments are able to access the curriculum within his/her classroom. Sometimes this means providing large print or adaptive equipment to enlarge print. Sometimes it means teaching Braille to students who do not have enough vision to use their eyes to see print and providing all printed materials in Braille that are used within the classrooms.
As an Orientation and Mobility (O & M) instructor, it is my job to teach safe and efficient ways of traveling to students with visual impairments to learn how to get around his/her school, around the home neighborhood, and in the community. Sometimes they use monoculars or long canes to assist in safe travel. For younger children it involves teaching spatial concepts and learning about the environment around them. She is assisted by Mary Kay Hill.

Ms. Susan Swain Email susans@wcs.edu Ms. Swain says the following: As an OT in the Williamson County Schools, I have the privilege of working with students at Scales. My primary focus is to assist and support students who may be experiencing difficulty within the general curriculum. OT`s role continues to evolve as we serve pupils throughout the county, providing support through classroom materials, intervention and strategies within the classroom. It is my joy to have returned to Scales this year, after a period away from the Schools. Scales has always been very special to me, first from a parent`s perspective and then as a member of this wonderful staff! |
