Spring is slowly blooming in
the yards around Scales. The grass is getting greener and the threat of
snow and ice smaller. With spring come more sports and activities for the
children. The same is true at school!
Scales third annual
Family Movie Night is Friday March 7th. We will be
showing the Academy Award winning Ratatouille in Webster Hall at 6:30
pm. Bring your blankets, beach chairs and munchies! PTO will be offering
water bottles. Admission is free, but this is a great time to bring a
gently used book from home to donate to Warner Elementary. Donna Bayless
and Elizabeth Crockett will be conducting the Spring Book Drive
the following week and would love the donations. Plus, your shelves will
have room for your Spring Bookfair purchases! That’s right- the
Bookfair will be open Movie Night for buying and browsing. The theme is
Road Trip- perfect for getting great reading material for those
Spring Break car trips. The Bookfair continues through the 14th.
On the 4th of the month, Run Club with Mrs. Moseley
resumes. The week of the 10th we will hold the first of three
parenting classes with Jim Williams, child specialist on Monday at
6:00-7:30. Please reserve your spot by emailing Mrs. McNamee or Ms.
Lipscomb. That Tuesday the 11th order your Papa
John’s Pizza and don’t miss the Spring Chorus Concert at 7:00,
following a very brief but important PTO meeting. We will announce
the slate of board nominees for the 2008-2009 school year and give an update
on recent expenditures. The slate will be voted on at the last general PTO
meeting to be held before the school play in May. The chorus will
again perform at our last Chick-Fil-A Night for this year on the
13th.
Make sure these April dates
are on your calendar! April 11th, Mustang Roundup!
Karen Robbins and her committee and working hard planning this terrific
spring party. April 21st- Scales’ Inaugural Golf Scramble
at Temple Hills Golf Club. Please contact Janis Gaudette if you are
interested in this fun event. April 25th- Health and Safety
Fair coordinated by Erin Martin and Melissa Collins. On
the same day Scales will be sponsoring a Red Cross Blood drive and
John Gallagher and the crew from Darrell Waltrip Honda-Volvo will
be here for test drives benefiting Scales. For every test drive
we take they will donate $10.00 to our school. So please come drive a
car and give a pint!
Enjoy this busy season and
have a safe and happy Spring Break!
Judy Gallagher, PTO
president
