A message from your PTO President...
October 2009

September has come to a close, and it’s beginning to look like fall!  The past month was filled with fun events such as Open House, Spirit Week and Invest Celebration.  This year’s Invest was a huge success thanks to Jamie Hopson and Amy Brothers.  We had such a GREAT time at Invest Celebration due to Natasha Brazil and all her party helpers.  Did you check out the auction?  Cara Finger worked tirelessly since summer getting items donated for both the silent and live auctions. Very special thanks to Kristy Oldham for organizing the classroom basket themes and displays…I am always amazed at the creativity of our parents!   Kudos to Henry Cho for doing such an awesome job as Emcee, the bids just kept going higher and higher!  Tape the Teacher and the pie throws were big hits thanks to good sports like Mrs. Scott, Mrs. Thomson, Mrs. Webster and Mr. West.  Mrs. Breaux and Mr. Oakley got messy, too!  What an incredible faculty we have here at Scales.   I am truly overwhelmed at the outpouring of generosity by our Scales families.  What all of you have contributed on behalf of your children benefits ALL of our kids.  In addition to funding the 2009-2010 budget, you have also given the school the opportunity to purchase better equipment and resources to further enhance our children’s education. Your Invest contributions are the reason why improvements can be made to Scales…Thanks for Investing in Your Child!

Don’t forget that September 30th is the deadline for PTO Manager entries.  Families that do not enter their data by that date will NOT be included in the school directory. A change in WCS attendance software precipitated the need for PTO manager (an online database) and has delayed the printing of this year’s school directory.   Please go to: http://scales.ptomanager.com to access the site.

October is almost here and the first thing on the calendar is collecting clothing for Mustang Closet October 5th-9th.   Our second Skate Day is scheduled for Tuesday, October  6th.  Get ready to smile for School Pictures on Wednesday, October 7.th   October 8th is our first Chick-fil-a Spirit Night.  Mustang Closet will take place Oct. 12th (set up) and Oct. 13th at Warner Elementary School.  Papa John’s pizza night is Oct. 13th.  Then, we all can rest during Fall Break, Oct. 19h & 20th.  Our 7th annual Pumpkins, Poems and Pictures contest is also coming up and all students are eligible to enter.  The contest begins on October 28th, with the winners announced Friday October 30th ~ Harvest Parties are also scheduled for 2 pm that day.  Look for flyers coming soon to all backpacks.

Yes, the activities just keep rolling along at Scales.  Remember, if you haven’t found a place to pitch in, drop me a line or indicate your interest on PTO Manager.  It’s never too late to get involved, and I promise you will have a blast doing it and meet some new friends along the way.   Enjoy the change of season and I’ll see you in the halls of Scales.
