How Can You Help Your Child at Home? Read aloud to your child every day. Read and write often to serve as a model to your child. Show your child that reading is a part of everyday life and is an enjoyable experience. Set up a regular family reading time (e.g. before bed, after dinner). Read novels on long car trips and bring stories on tape for listening. Pick books based on interest. Discuss books!
