2017 Walk Across Williamson Contest

Your child will be receiving a calendar for a challenge called Walk Across Williamson. Every year, all Williamson county schools have a competition to see which school is most physically active.  Not only does this program encourage students and their families to become more active, but schools are also awarded grant money for their physical education department through the Coordinated School Health Program. On the calendar you’ll be receiving, each member of your family can record their active minutes per day during the month of March.  Each member MUST complete a separate calendar. The minutes include walking around your neighborhood, a student having a soccer practice or a game, bike riding around the park, attending a workout class, really anything. At the beginning of April, your homeroom teacher will collect the forms. Now, get out and enjoy this beautiful weather!

RUN CLUB SPRING 2017

The P.E. department will be offering a Spring Run Club for all Scales students in grades K-5. Run Club is designed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle for our students. Run Club will be every Tuesday and Thursday for 5 weeks, beginning on March 28th and ending April 27th. Participants will either walk or run the track in the back of our school. Run Club will begin at 7:45 a.m. and end at 8:15 a.m. Students will be dropped off at the front entrance to the school as usual. They will then proceed to the back doors of the school and walk out to the track. Upon dismissal, students will walk straight to their classrooms through the back door of the school to start their day.

Frequently asked questions:

What if my child cannot attend both Tuesdays and Thursdays?

If there is a scheduling conflict, it is perfectly acceptable for students to attend one day and not the other.

What if it rains?

If it is raining outside, Run Club will be cancelled. In the event that it is only sprinkling, we will continue with Run Club.

If a Run Club has been cancelled, will it be made up?

We will do our best to make-up any missed Run Club days on the Friday of the same week that Run Club day was cancelled. An email will be sent out with the new make-up date.

Do you offer an incentives for runners?

Students in grades K-2 will earn toe-tokens for every 15 laps they run. Students in grades 3-5 will earn toe tokens for every 25 laps they run.

What if my child loses his/her toe token?

Keeping up with toe tokens is the responsibility of the student. We do not replace lost toe tokens.
