Mission Statement
Excellence in learning today builds success
in the world tomorrow.
The Beliefs
of Sunset Elementary School
- Sunset
Elementary School is a student-focused
community of learners.
- Our
purpose is to provide the foundation for
continued and independent learning.
- Each
student is a valued individual with
unique physical, social, and
intellectual needs which will be met
through a variety of instructional
approaches.
-
Students are entitled to a safe
environment in which to learn.
-
Parents, family, and community are vital
to the success of Sunset Elementary.
-
Student engagement is essential to
learning; education is best achieved
when students:
-
Become involved in experiences that
are meaningful to their lives.
-
Know exactly what is expected of
them.
-
Feel free to explore new ideas
without fear of failure for initial
learning.
-
Are given the opportunity to work as
a team.
-
Have a choice in how they will
express their knowledge/learning.
-
Are presented with goals that are
challenging yet attainable.
- We are
data-driven: continual assessment
provides student, parents, and teachers
the tools necessary to adapt instruction
and enrich learning.
-
Students, parents, families, faculty,
staff, and community members are
essential stakeholders in the decision
making process.
-
Professional growth opportunities are
essential and are most effective when
they are tied directly to student
learning, are research-based, and are
on-going, sustainable and relevant.
