August 2006 Sunset Middle School Newsletter

 

Welcome families and friends of Sunset Middle school students.  The SMS PTO is excited about the 2006/2007 School year.  We already have some wonderful events planned for the fall such as dances, picnics, and fundraisers, and we’ll need your help to make them successful. This year, our PTO board members are:

The PTO Has 3 Key purposes:

 

1.  To effectively communicate information between the school and the families of SMS students.  We will be doing this via e-mail, hand-outs, and general mail.

 

2.  To promote parental involvement.  Without you we cannot function effectively.  This is vital to our school running smoothly and making sure our student’s needs are being met. 

 

3.  To raise funds:  Now wait, don’t roll your eyes and stop reading. Our goal is to have only 2 major fundraisers the whole school year.  The success of these fundraisers determines what our students will have, and what they will not have.    Your involvement ensures that our kids will have essentials like library books, classroom supplies.  Not to mention larger items that they desperately need such as computers/software, AV equipment, and a sound/PA system for the gym.  If you or someone you know works with or for a company that can help provide any of these items, please contact us ASAP.  

INVEST IN YOUR CHILD is one of the major fund-raisers for SMS. The proceeds will go to the school for all the above Items.  You can make a one time contribution of $100.00 per child or you can elect to make monthly payments of your choice. Again the total dollar amount will determine the number of fund-raisers we will have.  SO, PLEASE HELP US OUT!!!  Also, PUBLIX PARTNERS is a very small and easy fund-raiser.  It is easy to use.  Just present your card when you check out at Publix and Publix will give money back to the school.  Just stop by the SMS office and pick up your card today.  We will also have the Publix Cards at the Open House in August.    Thank you for your support.

Our first Official PTO meeting will be on August 21st at 6:00pm, so please come and meet us in person.  Share your thoughts and ideas with us.  Parent information night is also that evening from 6:30-8:00.  Make sure you stay and meet your child’s teachers.
