The Sunset Health & Physical Education Department is led this year by Coach Robert Kopecky and Coach Paige Cardel. In addition to teaching, Mr. Kopecky coaches Football & Wrestling, while Ms. Cardel coaches Soccer, Basketball & Softball. The Coaches are starting this school year with a combined 50+ years teaching and coaching experience, mostly at the Middle School level. The weekly schedule this year will include 1-2 mini-Health lessons each week and a 10 minute running program twice per week. The students will also experience a number of sports/activities throughout the year. Some of which include; volleyball, spike ball, soccer, flag football, fitness, fitness testing, basketball, softball, badminton, pickle ball, Frisbee games, rhythmic movement, floor hockey and large group games.

6th Grade: Nine weeks rotation (Spanish)
Students will have several Spanish mini-lesson that incorporate Spanish storytelling and Spanish songs. Spanish vocabulary, grammar, and culture will be enriched through the Spanish stories and songs. A medal of accomplishment will be given to students that desire to retell the weekly Spanish stories verbally.

7th Grade: Spanish 7A year-long half credit for high school
Spanish skills such as reading, writing, listening, and speaking. There will be several presentational projects that incorporate vocabulary and grammar that including writing, researching and presenting. Grammatical concepts will include vocabulary expansion as well as the mastery of present tense, conjugations, articles and gender as well as additional concepts. This interactive course employs a variety of teaching methods and daily participation and study are required for success

8th Spanish I year-long full credit for high school
Students develop the ability to communicate about themselves and their immediate environment using simple sentences containing basic language structures. This communication is evidenced in all four language skills (listening, speaking, writing and reading) with an emphasis on the ability to communicate orally and in writing. This interactive course employs a variety of teaching methods and daily participation and study are required for success.
8th Grade Spanish Syllabus 2016
This course is designed to develop and build on computer technology skills. Students will use a variety of computer software and web tools. Topics that will be covered are keyboarding, Google Drive, Microsoft Office, digital citizenship, Internet search skills, and coding. Students will participate in a variety of individual and group projects.
