Meet the director

Nicole Church received her B.F.A. in Studio Art and Art Education at the University of Tennessee in Martin.  She has taught at Sunset Middle School since 2013 and previously taught in Lebanon, Tennessee since 2011.  Mrs. Church has taught sculpture and fiber arts at the Kids on Stage Summer Program for 10 years and is involved with leading professional developments for the arts in Williamson county since her hire.  She is a working artist for invitational and juried exhibitions including the Tomato Arts Festival and the annual UTM Guitar as Art exhibit.  She believes that it is important to instill a love of art through hands on experimentation of mediums and connection of personal beliefs and ideas to student artwork.  Mrs. Church is also the artist who graced the Sunset Middle library with her beautiful creations.

Program Information

Art is a nine-week class as part of our Fine Arts rotation at Sunset Middle School.  The basis for the class is deductive reasoning in both personal and group work.  Students also focus on exploring different techniques and media including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and clay.  Projects are all based on original thought and made personal by students through planning, research, and execution of previous knowledge in conjunction of currently learned techniques.
