“Teaching the Tapestry of American History” (TTAH) is a consortium between Williamson County and Maury County Schools. Teaching American History (TTAH) is a professional development grant to increase elementary, middle, and high school teachers’ content knowledge of and instructional abilities in teaching traditional American history. Specifically, the grant seeks to improve US history achievement scores as evidenced by the TCAP and EOC. The grant has been funded for three years and will begin in fall 2007 and end in 2010.

WHO:  ALL 4^th  5^th ,8^th , and 11^th grade teachers who are teaching United States History.

ORGANIZATION:  30 teachers per historical era will be recruited into a thematic cohort model:

• Cohort Member Teachers will receive intense training via institutes and workshops (Workshop Offerings).

• Cohort Member Teachers will also be mentored by 8 “master” teachers.
      

GETTING INVOLVED: Teachers will be invited by email to enroll in both the cohort and/or workshop offerings.

FUNDING:  The grant is fully funded; therefore all workshops and institutes will be free to participating teachers. Participating teachers will receive a stipend for workshops conducted outside the normal school day. Stipends for substitute teachers will be provided for workshops during the school day.
