Appendix D - Tennessee State Technology Requirements
TN Master Technology Plan
Additionally, the state of Tennessee indicates the
following key results in the Tennessee master plan for education.
TN Master Plan Key Results Area

KRA 4 and KRA 5
“Technology will be used to improve student learning and
analyze data…Support opportunities for teachers and administrators to develop
competency in using technology to meet instructional goals. Ensure that all
teachers use technology for instruction consistent with Board standards and
federal requirements.”
Tennessee Technology Plan
In its 2002 Consolidated Application for federal funds,
Tennessee presented its Title II, Part D goals for technology. These goals align
with the goals of the legislation, as shown below.
Tennessee Goals
1. All students will be educated in learning environments
that have access to educational technology used in support of academic
achievement. [“to improve student academic achievement through the use of
technology in elementary and secondary schools.” H. R. 1 §2402(b)(1)]
2. All students will demonstrate technology literacy by the
end of the eighth grade.
[“to assist every student in crossing the digital divide by
ensuring that every student is technologically literate by the time the student
finishes the eighth grade, regardless of the student’s race, ethnicity, gender,
family income, geographic location, or disability.” H. R. 1 §2402(b) (2) (A)]
3. All students will be taught by teachers qualified to use
technology for instruction.

resources and systems with teacher training and curriculum development to
establish research-based instructional methods that can be widely implemented as
best practices by State educational agencies and local educational agencies.”
