Tips for using the library:
There are two ways to look for books in the library, browsing and searching. Browsing is the way you look for books when you aren't quite sure what book you want to read so you look on the shelf for a book that looks interesting to you. Searching is the way you look for a book when you know exactly what you want. When you search you will use OPAC on the computer.
Take a quick look around the library. Notice that all of the books have a call number on a label located on the spine. We use this call number to know where each book belongs on the shelf.
Also notice that there are two kinds of books in the library.
One kind is fiction, which means it is made up or fantasy. The fiction books can be found in two different places depending on whether they have more pictures than words. The books with mostly pictures and easier words will be found in the Easy section. The easy books have an E on the call number. The books that have mostly words, chapters, and few pictures are found in the Fiction section and have an F on the call number. Once you find the right section, it's easy as ABC because all the books are in ABC order by the first three letters of the author's last name.
The other kind of book in the library is a book of true information, or nonfiction. These books have numbers on the call number. The numbers help us know what the book is about; the number is like a secret code of the book's topic.
