Our Principal and
Leader
Nancy Simpkins

A Message from Ms. Simpkins
Hello! Welcome to the Westwood Elementary School
webpage! I hope you enjoy viewing the many exciting activities,
features and information available through this medium.
My tenure at Westwood began in the fall of 2003
and the joy of serving as principal increases each year. The students
are exceptional, the staff top-notch and the parents and community
active and supportive. I am very proud of our achievement scores, our
high expectations for learning and our focus on school safety.
Franklin, Tennessee has been my home for over
thirty years and I love it! Although I grew up in different states, my
advanced education came form Tennessee colleges. My Bachelor’s Degree
in Elementary Education comes from the University of Tennessee in
Knoxville and my Master’s Degree from Middle Tennessee State in Special
Education. My thirty hours above my degrees focus on administration and
educational leadership.
My professional career in Tennessee began as a
special education teacher in the Franklin Special School District in
1975. In 1985, I entered the world of state government by accepting a
position with the State Department of Education as a trainer and
professional developer. This position afforded the opportunity to work
with teachers, administrators and school board members across the
state. From the state, I went to work in the Nashville School System as
an Instructional Supervisor, Middle School and Special Education
Director. Realizing the need to come back to Williamson County, I was
thrilled to return to my roots and work in Fairview.
Besides the fun I have at Westwood, I spend my
free time with my family, friends and church. My son Matthew and
daughter-in-law Melody live in Knoxville and raise my two young
grandsons.
Now, I ask you to venture into our website and
email us at anytime!
