Library Activities

The media center will host one Scholastic Book Fair each year with a general theme to support reading.  

2007 Book Fair - Reading Road Trip!
Students were on the right path to find their favorite books.

2006 Book Fair - Let the Book Bugs Bite!
Children were able to sit underneath the stars and read by the light of a campfire.

2004 Book Fair - Paws for Reading
Spot using his imagination to tell Mrs. LaRue about his feeling.

2003 Book Fair - Lasso A Good  Book!!
This was a cowboy town with many old stores including a jail.

2002 Book Fair - Hogwarts Express
Many book characters in a train reading books.

 

Special Activities

Some of the special projects and activities sponsored by the media center are described below:

Children's Book Week
National Children's Book Week is sponsored annually by the Children's Book Council to celebrate the joy of reading. CBW is always held from Monday through Sunday during the week before Thanksgiving. The event has been sponsored by the Children's Book Council since 1945.

National Library Week
First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and to promote library use and support. Special activities will mark this occasion at Walnut Grove.
