Coming!!

Put on your poodle
skirt and slick
back your hair....Rock 'n' Roll Read-a-Thon is coming!!!
The annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Read-a-thon is our principal’s
primary fundraiser. The Read-a-thon raises money each
year to purchase items not normally funded by the school
district.
The children ask family and friends for pledges for every
minute they read during the read-a-thon. In mid
February a packet will be sent home with details.
Kids who participate earn tickets for a chance to win
FABULOUS PRIZES, but we need your to help us make our prizes
great. How you can help: if you know of a company that would
be willing to donate a prize, send in any duplicate
toys that your child got for Christmas,
see something on clearance and or coordinate with your class
and to buy a toy! The prizes really help the kids get
excited about participating.
Please email Lisa
Davidson at
ljd1012@bellsouth.net with any prizes.
This year the Read-a-Thon will be held on
Friday, February 26th. It will include all of
the student’s favorites including dressing up in 50's
apparel, guest speakers, workshops and the famous Sock Hop.
(Track down the poodle skirts early!) Our featured speaker
is Michael
Nawrocki the
co-founder of Big
Idea Productions, the company best known for Veggie
Tales series. It promises to be a fun filled day but
we need YOUR help. We are in need of talent to lead a
workshop within the grade levels. If you know of any
authors, illustrators, song writers or anyone else who uses
or creates literature in creative ways please let us know.
Walnut Grove is full of talented, creative people that our
students would benefit from learning from!
