Mrs. Johnston and her husband, Ron, were both born and raised in Georgia.  They have two children – Larisa and Joey –who are both grown.  They also have two granddaughters, Lily and Sophie.  Lily is a third grader and Sophie is a first-grader at WGES.

Mrs. Johnston earned both a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in Education at Georgia State University in Atlanta. She took further graduate classes at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University and Middle Tennessee State University.

Mrs. Johnston has taught almost all the elementary grades.  She has taught in Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina and Tennessee, and she has taught in several Williamson County Schools.  In 2004 she applied for one of the new reading specialist positions and was thrilled to become the reading specialist at Fairview Elementary School.  Three years later she was even more thrilled to become the reading specialist at Walnut Grove Elementary – a wonderful school closer to home and also the school her granddaughters attend.  One of her favorite things about being a reading specialist is that she is able to work with children from all grade levels.

Mrs. Johnston’s hobbies are reading, cooking and gardening.  She loves to do arts and crafts projects with her granddaughters.   She and her husband enjoy taking walks on the land around their home in Leiper’s Fork.
