A member of the
Walnut Grove staff since its opening in 1990 Suzy Gore is in her
19th year at our school and her 30th year as an educator.
Prior to teaching at Walnut Grove Mrs. Gore taught eleven years at
Lipscomb Elementary. Most of her years have been spent in first
grade but she has also taught prefirst, second, and sixth grades.
She currently teaches first graders and loves the excitement and
challenges teaching them presents.
During her
teaching career Mrs. Gore has been honored to receive some awards.
In the 2000-2001 school year she was chosen as the Walnut Grove
Teacher of the Year and the Franklin, TN Wal-Mart Teacher of the
Year. In 2000 and 2003 she was awarded a Shiny Apple Award by
Williamson County Schools and in 2003 the school system’s Teacher
Feature Award.
Besides teaching
Mrs. Gore enjoys her involvement in two organizations. She
co-sponsors the Walnut Grove Make-A-Difference Club which she
founded in the 2000-2001 school year. She also is a
member of the Beta Zeta chapter of Alpha Delta
Kappa, an international honorary sorority for women educators.
A native
Tennessean, Mrs. Gore grew up in Memphis and graduated magna cum
laude from Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of
Science degree. She has since taken additional college courses and
attended workshops and institutes to stay informed of the latest
research, trends, and best practices in the field of early childhood
education. Like her students she aspires to be a lifelong learner.
