Boys Cross Country
The season has closed for another successful Boys Cross Country team.  Out of the five regular season meets, the WMS boys team ended the season with four second place finishes and one first place finish.  At the WMAA County Cross Country Championship the team brought home the Runners Up plaque.  Three WMS runners at the Medal Run and one at the Championship race received individual awards for finishing in the top ten of each meet.  At the end-of-season Team Awards and Recognition, the following received awards: 6 Grade MVP – Nick Dauchot; 7 Grade MVP – Stephen Karl; 8 Grade MVP – Justin Karl; Most Improved – Jonathan Canniff; Coach’s Award – Will Lamb.

Girls Cross Country
Rebuilding on a commendable year, Woodland’s girls cross country team demonstrated resiliency and determination throughout the 2009 season.  Although being denied a viable run for the championship title, the warriors were able to secure a top five (5) team finish at the WMAA County Championship.  By continuing a streak of personal best performances, the team proved that they were one of the most improved squads of the season.  In particular, our veterans established an excellent foundation for next year’s superstars.

There are no tryouts for cross country.  The only requirement is a physical and the willingness to run.  We will have practice every day, Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM until 3:50 PM.  Most of our meets will be on Thursdays.  All meets start at 4:00.  Girls run first and the boys' race will start immediately following the completion of the girls' race.

Rides to the meets need to be arranged prior to the race days.  For our home meets, we will need volunteers to help run certain parts of the race.
