CLASS UPDATE
Classes are going great. The 8th
grade is busy preparing music for Veterans Day and our Fall Concert. The 7th
grade is beginning to move through their method book, and the 6th graders
are beginning to play entire melodies. I would encourage each of you look at
the homework page each night and see what we are working on in class. 7th
and 8th grade parents make sure that your child is working on scales
and mid-state music each night. I am enjoying each of your children and seeing
the smiles on their face when they learn something new. Continue to encourage
them to strive for greatness and they will be great!
FUNDRAISING
UPDATE
Our Magazine sale was very
unsuccessful. I am concerned about the lack of funds for the program. We are in
need of several instruments, music, paying instrumentalists to come in and give
master classes for your children and other miscellaneous items that we have
been able to provide in years past because of these fundraisers. I would also
like to make the 8th grade trip easier financially for all students.
I do not feel that the magazine sale was very beneficial for us, which was a
mistake on my part in selecting it. We have been approached about having a
cookie dough sale in December. I would like to her from you on this issue. One
of the parents suggested at Open House that I ask every student to donate money
to the program, which I know is not possible for everyone, instead of
fundraising. The level of opportunities provided for your child may decrease
and I do not want that to happen. In the end, the final decision may be to cut
back and I will be fine with that and still teach your child to the best of my
abilities. I am open to any and all suggestions from you.
