Circulation Procedures

Library Visits

Each class has a scheduled time every 6 days to return books and select new ones. Open checkout times are from 8:15 - 8:45 each morning and 3:00 to 3:15 each afternoon.

Checkout

Students in kindergarten through second grade may check out 1 book at a time for one week. Students in grades 3-5 may check out two books for one week. Students have daily access to the library and may come each day for a new book with teacher permission. Books may be renewed for one additional time and then must be returned for others to enjoy.

Damaged Books

Please return damaged books to the library for repair. Accidents can and do happen. Pets chew books, younger siblings redesign them, snack boxes leak, etc. Books damaged beyond repair must be replaced. A damage bill with replacement costs will be sent home. Should a page accidentally rip, please return the book to the library and we will repair the page with special tape.

Overdues

There is not a fine for overdue books. However, if a student has an overdue book, checkout privileges are denied until the book is returned.

Lost Books

If your student loses a book, please let me know and we will resume checkout privileges while you are looking for the book. Bills for replacing the book will be sent home in December and May only.
