If you are interested in an activity, information on meetings or try-out opportunities for our various clubs and teams, please contact the club sponsor. Academic Based
Battle of the Books
Sponsor: Amanda Eubanks
To participate in Battle of the Books students will read eight novels selected by WCS middle school librarians. Then, students will take a qualifying quiz. The eight students with the highest scores on the qualifying quiz will be named the LMS battle team. The battle team will meet to discuss the novels and then, in the spring, will compete against all WCS middle schools in a trivia style battle. Meeting Times:TBDMini Mu is a math contest sponsored by the Brentwood High Mu Alpha Theta for Elementary and Middle School students. Students will take two rounds of math tests in the Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, or Geometry division, depending on his or her math class. Awards will be presented to the top students in each division. Contact Ms. Drayton for more information.
Model UNSponsor: Shelby Carter
Meeting Times:TBDEach fall, the YMCA of Middle Tennessee sponsors a Model United Nations conference. At the conference, Tennessee middle school students learn about the real-world operation of the United Nations by participating in a reenactment of the organization’s activities. At club meetings, students will learn about the functions and workings of the United Nations. Students form delegations and represent member countries’ interests in the General Assembly by drafting and debating resolutions. These resolutions cover a wide variety of topics of international concern. Students then compete against students across the region at a regional conference held in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Youth LegislatureSponsor: Shelby Carter
Meeting Times:TBDEach spring semester, the YMCA of Middle Tennessee sponsors a Youth in Government conference that offers students a hands-on experience with the state government. Each year, over 2500 students from across the state converge on the State Capitol, taking the places of our real government officials. At club meetings, students will learn about the functions and workings of the State government. Students will take the role of either a state House Representative or a Senator in a mock state Legislature. Students will work together to form delegations and by drafting and debating bills. These bills cover a wide variety of topics that have a state-wide impact. Contact Ms. Carter for more information.

Service Based
Student Council
Sponsor: Ms. Angela Seay
Meeting Times: TBDAttention 6th, 7th, and 8th graders! Are you looking for a way to expand your leadership skills, work with your peers, and do wonderful things for our school? Student Council is for you!! We will have elected and non-elected roles in our Student Council program. You could lead or be on a team that organizes school spirit, recycling, welcoming new students, helping to capture all our memories in print and photos or doing community service and fundraisers!! Students, be on the lookout for information sessions during Roar. Please see or email Ms. Seay with any questions.
National Junior Honor Society

Meeting Times: TBDNational Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a school service organization for students at LegacyMiddle School that demonstrate outstanding scholarship, leadership, service, character and citizenship.
- Who is eligible for membership?
Students who have attended Legacy Middle for at least one semester. Students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and a minimum of 85 percent in all classes. - When do I apply?
Now! Please obtain an application from Ms. Seay or from the main office. Applications are due Tuesday, February 9th. Applications will be judged by a faculty council on the following: service, scholarship, leadership, character, and citizenship. - How much are the dues?
Dues are $20 per year. - What else is required?
Members must participate in service projects throughout the year and attend monthly meetings. - What activities does the NJHS participate in each year?
We have the unique opportunity to set the precedent for NJHS at Legacy Middle School! Our chapter will decide on service projects that we are passionate about and develop traditions for years to come!
