Athletics
Interscholastic activities in Williamson County Schools are an important part of the overall educational process. The athletic programs offer students expanded learning opportunities including self-discipline, self-esteem and teamwork. Students who participate in extracurricular activities tend to get higher grades, have better attendance and pose fewer discipline problems.

Chromebook Policy
Students must bring their chromebooks, fully charged, to school every day.
Additional student responsibilities will be defined in the “Acceptance Use” and “Authorization District Device” form that students and parents must complete on Skyward prior to a student receiving a Chromebook.
Students who leave their Chromebook at home or lose its charge during the day will be sent to the FHS library for a new device to use for the day. Students shall be asked to leave their cell phone in a secure area until the Chromebook is returned at the end of the day. Other consequences may occur if this is an ongoing problem.

Grading Practices
ACADEMIC DISHONESTY Policy:
All Fairview students are expected to respond to academic challenges with the highest degree of integrity and honesty, which means fulfilling assignments and/or exams in the manner in which they are intended and not participating in any behavior that gains an unfair advantage for any student.
Consequences: The first time a student is caught cheating at FHS, the student will receive a grade of zero for the entire assignment. Assignments include, but are not limited to, the following-- final papers, drafts, homework, note cards, tests and quizzes. An alternative assignment will be given. The teacher will contact the parent/guardian to make them aware and report to the grade level administrator.
If this offense occurs again, this becomes a disciplinary issue that will be handled by FHS administration after being notified by the teacher. Administration will contact parents/guardians to discuss disciplinary action

Student Behavior Expectations
PUBLIC DISPLAY OF AFFECTION It is inappropriate for students to engage in public displays of affection beyond holding hands/ hugging goodbye. Students who kiss, inappropriately touch one another, etc., will be warned. On the second offense, students will receive additional disciplinary action.
FIGHTING POLICY Students involved in a fight will be disciplined up to an arrest and potential remand to the Alternative Learning Center and a petition could be filed in Juvenile Court. If a student is remanded to the ALC, neither the school nor the county provides transportation services for the student. Students are encouraged to seek conflict resolution from school principals, school counselors, the STARS counselor, or teachers in an effort to resolve the problem prior to an outbreak of fighting. In most instances, situations leading to fights can be resolved if pre-fight intervention occurs. Students found to be inciting, setting up, or causing a fight may also be suspended.
SKIPPING Skipping is missing part of a class, all of a class, or multiple classes without the prior approval of parents and/or office staff or of the teacher whose class is being missed. Arriving more than 10 minutes late to a class without an excused note will be considered skipping. Lunch, Jacket Time, study hall, pep rallies, and assemblies are class periods. The penalty for skipping will usually result in detention or assignment to in-school suspension and/or loss of parking privileges.Repeated violators may be referred to Juvenile Court and the ALC. Seniors are reminded that any form of suspension means a loss of exam exemption.
INSUBORDINATION Insubordination is a refusal by the student to follow a directive from an authority figure. Failing to identify oneself when requested by any staff member; failing to follow directions or instructions; and/or failure to give up an electronic device to an authority figure is insubordination and will result in disciplinary action.
TOBACCO/VAPING POLICY State law now specifically prohibits students from possessing or using tobacco products (including smokeless tobacco) on school grounds. Students in violation are to be cited to juvenile court with fines ranging from $10.00 to $100.00 per offense and community service as the minimum penalty. In addition, such students may be subject to some form of suspension. Repeat offenders will receive extended suspensions and/or referral to the Alternative Learning Center. Possession of tobacco in student vehicles on campus may cause students to lose parking privileges. This includes E-Cigs and Vapor Devices. Devices will be confiscated and disposed of.
PROFANITY Students using profanity will be subject to disciplinary consequences and will be sent to the office. Profanity is not tolerated in classrooms, hallways, while talking on cell phones, or any additional locations on campus.
-
Visitors/Volunteers
All visitors, including parents, must check in to the office upon arrival at school and present a valid photo ID. Visitors must affix a visitor pass to their outermost layer of clothing. This helps to maintain student safety. An administrator may refuse to issue a visitor's pass anytime it is deemed to be in the best interest of the school.

Transportation
MOTOR VEHICLE REGULATIONS/CHECKPOINTS
There is a $15.00 parking permit fee that must be paid for any student to park his/her car on the school grounds. Driving to school is a privilege that can be revoked at any time by a school administrator. No student may be in the parking lot, sit in his/her car, or use his/her vehicle during the day without permission. This includes arrival at school before 7:50. WCS Board Policy. Any student who has their parking pass revoked and is found to be parking on campus will face further school discipline.
BUS CONDUCT Bus riding is a privilege which may be revoked due to misconduct or misbehavior enroute to and from school. Consequences: First violation: written warning to student/parent(s) by driver; Second violation: conference with Principal, parent(s), student, and Transportation Official; Third violation: suspension from school bus. Multiple offenses will be treated as second and/or third offenses. These consequences are the MINIMUM. The principal has full authority to discipline students as he/she determines to be appropriate.
