The first community input meeting in the WCS strategic planning process is happening tonight, February 7, at Independence High.

The district is hosting a series of five community input sessions and is inviting the public to attend. The dates and locations of those times are listed below. Each meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.

    • February 7: Independence High
    • February 9: Brentwood Middle
    • February 13: Franklin High
    • February 21: Fairview High
    • February 23: Mill Creek Elementary

A Steering Committee composed of district staff and external stakeholders will review community input from these meetings.

Over the past few weeks, several groups have met with Lipscomb University's Special Counsel to the President for Strategy Dr. Hope Nordstrom and Executive Director of the School of Public Policy Laura Encalade, who are facilitating the development process. After Leadership Team and Steering Committee kickoff meetings in January, the facilitators and district leaders met with the Williamson County Education Association (WCEA).

Nordstrom and Encalade have also met with assistant principals, elementary and high school teachers, school-based personnel, support staff and the WCS Superintendent's Student Advisory Council to get input on the new Strategic Plan. They are scheduled to meet with principals and middle school teachers this week.
