Scales Elementary fifth graders are learning what it takes to keep a town running thanks to a recent field trip to Junior Achievement (JA) BizTown.

In preparation, students participate in a variety of lessons that introduce them to resume building, interview skills, leadership responsibilities and more. Right before the trip, the fifth graders are placed in job roles so that they can work together to create product pricing and advertisements. While at BizTown, students take on their new job within the city to create a working economy.

"BizTown is one of our favorite fifth-grade field trips every year," said SES teacher Darcey Bodziony. "From getting paid to spending their earnings, every student jumps in full force to be an important part of the BizTown community."
