Students at Grassland Middle are improving their volleyball skills in physical education class.

To help prepare students for a full game, GMS PE teacher Holly Hoover taught them one-bounce volleyball, a game where the ball is allowed to hit the ground once before a student passes it. The game gives students time to get into the correct position for the next play.

"Many students have either never played volleyball or only played in their backyard," Hoover said. "We use a variety of balls, like beach balls and balloons, to lead up to playing with a regulation volleyball in a regulation game. The students love being with their friends in class, and they enjoy learning new games and activities."
