- Work hard.
- Communicate with the coaches.
- Follow the training plan.
Expectations and General Information
- Athletes must have a current physical dated after April 15, 2022 uploaded to final forms before being allowed to participate in official practice beginning early August.
- Once students have a school email, they should sign up for final forms. Parents must choose the sports which will add you and them to the email list and roster. Also, parents and students must sign the concussion and cardiac arrest forms found on final forms before athletes are allowed at official practice.
- There will be a school athletic fee due prior to the first meet (usually $75) that needs to be given to Athletic Director, Jay Johnson or paid online.
- There will be a team informational meeting for parents and athletes towards the end of summer with important information before the season officially starts.
- For practice, athletes will need a good pair of running shoes, lots of water, appropriate clothing, a towel or yoga mat, a watch, and a good attitude.
- Training consists of running, cross training if needed, core, weights and stretching. Practices typically last 1.5 – 2 hours to accommodate all these things. Please plan on being at practice and engaged the whole time.
Summer and In Season Training/Season Schedule- Unofficial summer training will begin in June.
- Cross country meets Mondays and Tuesdays at Vaughn’s Gap in Percy Warner Park (7199 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221) and Thursdays and Fridays at the FHS track. All days at 7:00 AM.
- It is highly recommended to come to practice and follow the plan so that you can be as prepared as possible for the mileage needed during the season.
- Mileage plans and updates will be sent out to the runners in the captain-led group chat for those who cannot attend summer training. Talk to another runner to be added to the chat if you are not already there.
- Mileage plans/workouts vary based on previous running experience and the age of the athlete. If you are unsure what you should be doing, please email a coach and ask.
