Second grade students at Winstead Elementary completed their butterfly study and released their specimens into the wild.

After watching their caterpillars turn into butterflies right before their eyes, students celebrated by having a special release day September 15.

"It was very, very cool," said WSES student Isaiah Gillett. "It was fun to watch them change, and I learned that Monarch butterflies are poisonous."
