Fourth grade students at Clovercroft Elementary are getting a hands-on lesson about American pop artist Wayne Thiebaud.

Thiebaud is known for his realistic paintings of food, so art teacher Carly Cambron had her students create mini food sculptures using Model Magic clay. Throughout the week, students learned different modeling techniques and how to color their clay.

"We've had to be creative and modify the way we do things," Cambron said. "Ceramic pottery clay is really messy and requires a lot of supplies. This year we're using modeling clay which is so fun and squishy, and students can add color with their own markers."
