Allendale Elementary fourth grade students are creating a starry night.

After learning about Vincent van Gogh, students in art teacher Kelli Ligon's class are making their own starry nights using oil pastels. They even put their own spin on the classic art piece by adding a pumpkin patch to the foreground.

"To make the paintings, we're brushing the papers slightly with water and paint after using the oil pastels," said AES student Emma Azar. "It looks really pretty and interesting."

In addition to the smaller pieces of art, the class made a large mural that is on display in the main hallway of the school.
