Williamson County Schools will continue to offer free breakfast and lunch to students through the remainder of the 2020-21 school year.

This comes after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced this week that it is extending its Summer Food Service Program through June 2021.

As a result, student meals will continue to be free this school year for all WCS students including those who are in the online program and those who are learning remotely.

"Nutrition and education go hand-in-hand," said WCS Food Services Director James Remete. "If we can continue to offer nutritious meals to students at no cost, then that's one less thing our families have to worry about."

The free meals do not include a la care items, snack items or extra entrees, which may still be purchased at full price.
