Longview Hosts TCAP Parade

How do you get students excited about taking a test? At Longview Elementary School, they throw a parade.

The annual tradition takes place on the day before TCAP testing begins. That's when students in Early Childhood, kindergarten, first and second grades line the hallways and shower the students in grades three through five with confetti, applause and words of encouragement.

"This is always one of our favorite days of the year," said Principal Dr. Kathy Ball. "The kids line the hallway and throw bags and bags of confetti as the older kids walk by. Not only is it a lot of fun for the students who are in the parade, but it also gives the younger students something to look forward to. It's an amazing tradition."
