Kenrose Elementary first graders are using their imagination and knowledge about shapes to build their own kingdoms.

In KES teacher Jennifer McGowan's class, students used paper towel tubes, cereal boxes and other materials of many shapes and sizes to create castles. After building the structures, students were free to decorate the castles however they wished.

"I made a mobile garden on top of the base, and I also made a waterfall," said KES first grader Tara King. "This is a fun way to learn about shapes and how they stack on top of each other. I liked seeing everyone's castles and seeing them so happy."
