Sixth grade students at Hillsboro School are learning about energy in a thrilling way.

In science teacher Cathy Looney's class, students created miniature marble rollercoasters using foam tubing and tape. They were given different challenges while creating their tracks, such as a course with one hill, one loop or two loops. Once the track was completed, the speed of the marble traveling down it was recorded.

"We had to create one hill and one loop in our track," said HEMS student Lillie Blackwell. "The loop was pretty complicated, because we had to shape the foam tubes. It was really fun, because we got to build something and still learn the lesson."
