Now is the time to share your thoughts about a new public school funding strategy known to the Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE).

For the past few months, the State has hosted public town halls across Tennessee to gather input from the community. Town hall recordings and a highlight video are available on the TDOE YouTube channel. All meeting materials, including recordings, from the 18 subcommittees working on the strategy are available on the TDOE website.

"I am thrilled by the response of Tennesseans across the state who have shared or sent direct feedback on what they would like to see in a new formula to fund public education," said TDOE Commissioner Penny Schwinn. "The conversations we're hearing on how to best fund the academic success of our public school students are incredibly important."

On Tuesday, December 14, the department will host its final Twitter Town Hall to engage with Tennesseans through social media. To join the conversation, follow the #TNEduFunding hashtag. For those who would rather share their thoughts another way, the TDOE is accepting emails from residents regarding their priorities for a student-centered public education funding formula.

The TDOE also created a School Funding Ambassadors opportunity for Tennesseans who wish to participate. The ambassadors will collect public comments from their communities using a form provided by the State.
