Special needs students from three WCS middle schools joined friends and family to compete in the Mill Creek Middle School Buddy Run.  Students from Brentwood, Legacy and Mill Creek laced up their running shoes for the 100 Meter event.

After seeing the first Buddy Run at Brentwood Middle, BMS and MCMS Speech Therapist Nikki Nobile and MCMS Coach Kathy Gawron decided to host a competition as well.

“Every track meet we have attended has not had a crowd cheer as loud as they have for the ‘Buddy Run,” said Nobile and Gawron. “As two SSS employees, we know how important these inclusive events are for the social, emotional and communicational growth in both special education and general education students. Through the Buddy Run, we all share a love of community, friendship, our school, equal opportunity and track and field.”

Each participant at the MCMS Buddy Run received a certificate and a free meal voucher at the Nashville Chicken and Waffles food truck which catered the meet.
