As the school year comes to an end, teachers and students at Mill Creek Middle are celebrating the success of the school's Maverick Cafe.

The cafe opened in the fall and serves MCMS each Friday. The school's Top Mavs, who are students in the special education program, team up with students in the MCMS Best Buddies program to organize and run the cafe. With hot and iced coffee, tea and the signature Muddy Maverick available, staff members are able to enjoy a beverage and students are able to practice different skills and get a little bit of business experience at the same time.

"We help students learn how to work with money, and all the money goes back into the cafe," said MCMS student Landon Gehring. "I really enjoy it. I'm super happy to be here and do it every week."
