Buy School Supplies Tax-Free

    Tennessee's traditional sales tax holiday is fast approaching, and families will have the opportunity to buy school supplies, clothing, computers and more July 29-31.

    Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, July 29, and running until 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, clothing items costing less than $100 each; school and art supplies costing less than $100 each; and personal-use computers costing less than $1,500 may be purchased tax-free. Items sold online are also eligible.

    In addition to the traditional sales tax holiday, food and food ingredients may be purchased tax-free from August 1-31. More information about eligible items is also available on the TDOR website.
