First graders at Fairview Elementary are putting the lesson from Dr. Seuss's Green Eggs and Ham to the test.

By creating their very own green eggs and ham using food coloring, students learned that you really can't judge something based on looks alone.

"Not judging something based on looks and trying something because you may like it are the two central messages students have learned in this study," said FES teacher Sheri Keel. "While students predicted they would not like green eggs and ham, they are now able to say yes, they do. We were also able to connect our science standards of the life cycle of a chicken and learning where eggs come from."
